GSA Article Category - will root domains as target urls do?

Title says it all.. inner pages often die so it would be more efficient to keep only root domains as target urls..

Or is it not posibble?

    I think sometimes it can be picked from root url but i guess not always. i think keeping root urls in 'verified' ser folder would be much better in this case (case that they are always picked from root url instead of innerpage url) because after 3 months our target urls can die (inner pages) but root domains will be alive.
