Post to Competitor Backlinks

It seems that this option should always be off for the various projects.

What I'd like to know is how to effectively use it. 

1) Is it best to import a list of competitors and then select this and disable SE's and then run that as a project?
2) OR import a list of keywords (the highly targetted list) and then run it with it enabled?
3) OR use another program to find the competitor backlinks and then import the backlink list into GSA?

How is everyone else doing this part?

    I've it set "on" ;)

    But if your competitors are really strong (mine aren't and don't have any useful backlinks to post to) you can use for example ahrefs and identify the platforms to import the useful sites to your global site list.

    I have mine set to Off.  The Who is type links it tends to pull don't fair so well for my seo projects.
