The 1st one does not use engines where we know they always produce nofollow links. That keeps however engines that create both and we do not know what type of link it will be as e.g. "Blog Comments".
The 1nd one tries to find out what link type it may be and skips the posting if it turns out to be a Nofollow one.
As web masters can manually change the links their domain provides the best way to manage do/no follow domains is to filter your list and manually assign each to a specific folder to use as and when you require.
That sets some filters but some no follow will get through and do follows will be scrapped. The best way to do it is the way I explain in my linked article.
@shaun I have gone through your articles. What my doubt is I have kept 1st filter fully tick, while using 2nd filter, Is there any possibility of SER slow down.
