Parasite Pages for 2017

Is parasite SEO ranking still effective in 2017?  As in, is it possible to create a Facebook/Youtube/other parasite platform and build links to it with GSA SER, and then see it rise in the SERPs?

Thanks for your advice.

  • the social media referrals need to have good engagement metrics, otherwise would be a waste of resource, or possibly worst case where it has a negative effect on your efforts. The days of getting ranking for just connecting links to parasite pages are long gone. G has upped their game and we all need to do the same. G is well aware of what parasites are and have accounted for them. The value now is to get active traffic through them which will then add the value.

I have literally just finished blasting 100,000 T1 links at an amazon parasite page, going to blast its T2 now and see how it goes.

I did a bit of parasites back in the day but I never managed top 3 so interested to see how it goes.
  • @shaun awesome! Can't wait to see your results. That is a serious blast :-)

How are you tracking results?  Using Accuranker or something along those lines?
  • I agree with @viking, based on both my own testing and what I see in the SERPs I monitor. I've had occasional success with parasites over the past year or so, and I'll occasionally see one doing well, but it's the exception rather than the rule imo.

Nah I use this tool, it lets you track 150 keywords for free too.

Thanks everyone for the replies -- and thanks for the suggestion, @shaun!  I will check this tool out for sure.
  • Would love seeing anyone post up evidence that is still works. Until then, I personally would focus on other uses of resources for seo.

No idea is my test will work but I will be publishing its results regardless :).

The main thing I am worried about is the retention rate of the links made by SER, pretty sure I have managed to get my link loss down to around 25% now as I have much more conservative settings compaired to what I used to have.
  • SER link loss is one of my issues. one link in, one link out sort of stuff. would love to see your test results and will be anxiously awaiting your post! :-)  For anyone starting out, @shaun 's blog is a great resource.
