search engines vs. verified list

I have a service that offers a custom SE (linklists), which i can query without limits nor proxies. And I also have some big verified lists. If I enable both, how are they combined?

And is there a way to combine them with custom keyword queries to real search engines?

the search engines are always used before site lists are used. The site lists get used if there are no further sites to submit to and no search engine can be queried or is busy.
