setting up dedicated server - how about virus protection?

i want to run gsa on its own dedicated server (well, its not a server, its a small win7 pc @home). should i use any sort of virus-protection? -or can i achive security with a proper firewall setup? up until now i used gsa on my private pc & it has norton antivirus on...

    no anti virus program is required here as basically no infection can happen as SER does not execute any javascript.

    No, don't use antiviruses and don't download every crap on your desktops please.

    Maybe run malware bytes every few months if something goes wrong, it saved my pc a few times.

    Thanks guys, just to be sure - do you block all other ports, which gsa does not use, or simply install win7 & gsa and never bother again?

    Just don't install anything you don't need on the workstation.

    Use something else for browsing. Eg, firefox.

    Use noscript, ublock origin and http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/ in your hosts file and you likely won't catch viruses on the internatz.
  • - Dedicated server with firewall is pretty safe
    - Just don't download or install any untrusted programs or visit any untrusted websites on you dedicated server. So you don't need any anti virus software.
