Active versus Active(V)

So why would I want to choose Active(V) instead of of Active for an SER project... not sure I understand what that is used for?

you do not need this. It's just a special status you will set to let a project only verify links. This can be useful if you plan to not build any more links but just verify existing submissions or account creations.
