It shouldn't have deleted your projects, but you can always right click on a project > modify project > backup all projects. It's good to save them every once in a while just in case of any unexpected data loss.
@ivanher maybe the update installed to a wrong folder. Make sure it was the same as your previous version. In that case your projects are still there. Try searching your hard disk for *.prj files.
