How many Thread For GSA In VPS

Hi Guys,

i want to know that how many thread should i use on 1Gbps connection on a vps.

I am currently using 800 threads will it Okay?


and i am currently using GSA verified list ,in case i donot want to use the list how can i post to links without getting my IP banned by google

i mean that how can i stop my ip being banned by google pr check and search check/???


Any suggestion??/?

    right clcik on the LpM and choose DpM with failed download stats. Increase threads slowly and see that this "download failed" number is not increasing a lot. If it does, you should lower the threads a bit and it should be the perfect number for you.

    one more problem its showing the message already parsed even when i have already removed the duplicate urls?

    Thats normal as you probably have different URLs in it and SER skipps all from a domain if that previous URL was identified as an engine where only one URL can be submitted.

    i just updated to the latest version of GSA ser which was released today (i think)
    and now cpu load is increasing i donot know if its only my probelm or any others are also facing it to.


    Yesterday when i have not updated my GSA SER i was running 500-800 threads and CPU usage was normal but today after updating it is increasing like hell.Its is now 98to 99% CPU Usage 

    Can you please check this issue??

    well 500-800 threads...you can not really expect a low cpu usage fort that.

    i lowered it to 100-150 still 90-97% Usage??

    is there anything wrong because in previous version i was using the same settings!!

    Well start the previous version then and see if that really makes a change (linked to start menu).

    @sven I noticed the increase in cpu as well. normally run 300 threads and before the latest version cpu usage almost never went above 50%, now with all setting same CPU is almost always above 75%

    maybe its a bit higher, but speed should also be better.

    @Sven It's hard for me to understand how the number of projects affects CPU usage much more than the number of threads...

    I upgraded my VPS to Xeon E3 CPU 8 Cores, 6GB RAM, SSD.

    19 active projects, CPU is 99% even running at 100 threads.
    10 active projects (using scheduler), CPU is 30% running at 800 threads.

    Notice the difference of threads. I thought the number of projects is not so important as it just uses less threads per project and is slower. But for me it affects the CPU so much. With scheduler Ser is running fast again.

    For me Tier 1 projects run well (don't use up all the CPU), but when i run only a few tier 2 / tier 3 projects, then CPU is 100% and it's even hard to stop Ser

    Yes well you can prevent the cpu from running at 100% same goes for the RAM --- just use the auto throttling function, it will,automatically reduce the threads

    It's not about threads for me, i run many tier 1 projects at 800 threads (CPU 10%), then activate few lower tier projects and the CPU goes 100% even on 100 threads.

    Well are you nuts running at 800 threads ?
    Not only will you kill any proxies you have in a matter of minutes, your captcha solving would never be able to keep up and your machine will choke up.

    Running at 800 threads you would also need a very high HTML timeout as i bet you half the sites wont load fast, if at all

    You should start with ALL tiers activated, try with 50 threads or even less, and let it run. I found that allot of resources are used just starting the threads then they usually settles down. So try it.

    Start with all activated  and only 50 threads, after 10 minutes increase the threads.

    html timeout is 180.
    of course i test threads starting from 100 and increasing it slowly to see what is the best settings to get links fast. i usually run around 500-600, but with lower tiers it's even hard to have 300 threads, but therefore i tested only tier 1 projects that ran at 800 threads without problems. I don't get it why lower tiers need more CPU

    The lower tiers use more resources because it waits for the links from the top tiers and then most probably u have set to verify them first. Running at 800 threads tier 1 most probably used up whatever targets you had and after a short while has nothing more to do which is why you are getting the message message already parse.

    Running at 800 threads is your problem.

    I run 158 projects all on active status -- 300 threads --- my CPU is at 5% and RAM at 1.55GB
    In the screenshot i have just restarted GSA which is why LPM is low, but this is how i run it 24/7

    @bagri0007 i believe he is using Serengines. But most of the web 2.0-s are rebelmouse engine, Serengines doesn't post much on different engines

    IN that screenshot i have started the machine like 15seconds ago so it is not anything to go by in terms on actual verifications, but Yeah i do have allot of web 2.0 sources.
