How to tell if someone is doing negative SEO against your website?

How are you supposed to tell if someone is doing negative SEO against your website?  I was checking my websites backlinks in ahrefs and noticed 100-150 no follow backlinks pointing to my site.  They all appeared in a day or two.  These backlinks were not coming from multiple domains but instead from a single domain.  It looks like the backlinks are placed on every single page on the website.  Is this someone trying to do negative SEO ?

    Sounds more like a disclaimer link on the site's footprint to me

    If someone would neg seo your website you would see 10k-100k backlinks, not 100.

    Check to see if the web designer you recently hired for free placed a link to a competing site in your niche.

    But kidding aside, sometimes these type of links happen on their own. But without knowing the type of site you're getting the links from, and where the links are placed, it's hard to give a definitive answer.
