Proxy Issue - Curious
I have 3 VPS with the same 20 private proxies on each for my test.
I have used the exact same:
String: id="shSignOutLink"
I have changed the order I do the proxy test on (i.e the order of the VPS's)
Here are my results:
1) VPS 1: 14/20 (i.e. 6 dead)
2) VPS 2: 20/20 (i.e. 0 dead)
3) VPS 3: 06/20 (i.e. 14 dead)
Scrapebox Test: 06/20 (i.e. 14 dead) (I did this after all the other tests)
How is this possible? No projects are running. Proxies are not used for anything else. I have restarted GSA a few times. I have changed the order I test the proxies on the VPS's.
How can each VPS (with same provider and in EU), tell me that a different number of proxies are working???
So is it
20 work?
14 work?
6 work?
Any ideas???

If you port scan for proxies. Do not use publicly listed proxy judges.
The owner of judge does not get your proxy port but they will get the
proxy IP; of course they will attempt to scan in first place against the
common ports to steal your proxies.
You're better off by setting up your own private judge on your server. Here is source code for the famous and old ProxyJudge http://myproxylists.com/prx.txt
For Linux: Just copy the text file to to your /cgi-bin/prx.cgi and do chmod +x prx.cgi
For Windows: Just copy the text file to your \cgi-bin\prx.cgi
Needless to say, private judge is a lot faster and more reliable as well
compared to public judges. This is very important thing to notice
unless you don't want crappy results.
if you still want to use public ones ... try :
Thats the exact reason why I didn't add such a proxy checking webpage as default url/string to test things with. Im very well aware that people proving these public check websites steal proxies.
So the easiest way to check if a proxy is alive or not is by using a common URL like www.bing.com and check it against a string that always appears there like microsoft.com. If the program can download it and finds this sting, it assumes it got a valid reply and not some error page or a proxy authorization page.
Sorry there are 3 sites in it that can influence the result.
Your PC, the proxy and the website going through the proxy. I wouldn't rely on that www.pr0.net too much.
