Adding Irrelevant URLs To Verified Links

edited January 2013 in Bugs
Hi, for some reason GSA has a tendency to add the wrong url's and I don't know why...

Im sure everyone has this problem if they check their existing projects you will notice links like this:

It also dose this with the main domain sometimes, if you look through your existing projects you will see root domains like:

This causes a major problem when using third party application to check tiers, I Use backlink monitor to check my tiers to see which ones are alive/dead. I notice that GSA dose not have this feature so this is why I am using a third party application.

For anyone one who is using a program like Backlink Monitor you might want to be careful since you are loosing out on a ton of links since GSA is adding random URL's that dose not have anything to do with your backlink.

When program's like BLM trys to trace your tiers, it looks for any URL that is within your tiers and matches them up. Meaning if it finds "http://everytimelinks.com/upcoming.php" before it finds "http://mybacklink.com/my-back-link/" it automatically mark the entire tier as broken since the program thinks "http://everytimelinks.com/upcoming.php" is your backlink and since its not leading up to your root domain it marks it as broken which ends up getting deleted.

The way programs like BLM works is by tracing all your tiers back to your root domain. If it crawls your tiers and cannot make it back to the root domain it marks the entire backlink tier as broken and the program will delete it.

To test this, Open up GSA, select your tiers 1-4, load them into notepad++, and manually delete the links like: "http://everytimelinks.com/upcoming.php" and "http://everytimelinks.com/". Now do a split test, run your unmodified verified links list  you collected from GSA and load them into BLM, write down how many green OK links you get.

Then delete all the links from BLM and load up the verified links you modified with notepad++ you will notice that you get 2x-3x more green OK links than before, this is due to the fact that you no longer have the irrelevant links GSA keeps adding.

@Sven can you please fix this issue, this small bug is causing major problems since I've already deleted 1'000s of  links which were actually working.

  • I got alot of this in my lists too .. thanks for the tip and i hope this gets fixed ...

and yes that would be great if GSA could verify a complete tier for broken backlinks
  • This is a big issue.  We can't work our links if they show up dead.  thanks for the notice Robby

The problem is the following...the program finds your link on the upcoming.php sublink or even on the root domain but can not locate a deeper link that would have a static url (Details, read more or alike anchor text).

There is no solution for moving page submissions (e.g. some guestbooks). There is however one for the detail-url location but for that you need to give me the sample pages to optimize the algorithm to find these detail links.

@Sven, this seems like it only happens on 2 platforms, Pligg and PHP Dug ( I noticed with php dug it links back to the login page ex: http://talkingtourism.info/login.php).

As for the sample pages you requested, do you mean that you want me to provide you with working links to post from the platforms that are causing problems? for ex: provide you a working post from a Pligg platform website to fix the upcoming.php problem?

I just want to be sure if that's what you are requesting so I can compile a proper list?

Also, would it be possible to simply blacklist the links which contains the php file itself within the URL based off the platform? Meaning, with Pligg Platforms, Any links containing upcoming.php will be blacklisted from being added to the verfied links list within GSA. With PHPdug, login.php will be blacklisted also. That way, links containing these php files within the permalink structure of the URL will not be added to the verified links?

I notice each platform has its specific problems:

    Pligg - upcoming.php & search
    PHP Dug - login.php

That's about it. All other platforms seem to be working fine, giving the exact URL's back.

I would need the URL of the pligg where this happened so I can debug things why< it would not find the detail-url.

Ok, here are some URL's that I've found within my project so far:

(This pligg added the search result as a backlink for one of my tiers)http://www.openlivelinks.com/search.php?search=http://melamene.es/upcoming.php

    PHP Dug:

(GSA added this URL to one of my tiers): http://nextboots.co.uk/

I will continue to add more as they populate within my verified links

    next version improved the detail-url-search
  • Thanks @Sven. Really appreciate it.
