How long before a successful submit stops being checked as verified?

This centres around

"Don't remove URLs (check hint)"

How long before the submission is removed from the submitted count and is no longer checked?

I am trying to get a balance between frequency of email checking / How many POP3 accounts per project / The check duration being per account or per server - without it taking so long to check the mailbox that the link is no longer checked for.

    "Don't remove" is just like that...it's not removed at all.

    That's obvious ;), the question is about if it's not checked how long until verification fails and it no longer looks for a link
