During operation of SER, what's the best way to update?

I am running SER on VPS for days until now and it will take several weeks.
I found that there is a 8.80 UPDATE on SER. 
Since it's first time I run this program, I'd like to know what's the best way to update SER.
Definitely I don't want to lose any data.

Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi @RocketRide, my advice is to quit SER, download the latest version from,

    http://search-engine-ranker.gsa-online.de/

    Rename the file with a version number, e.g. search_engine_ranker_v8.78.exe. Then run the installation.

    This way you're sure you won't lose any data, coz when you quit SER, it'll force SER to save all its file on hdd. Also you'll have previous versions of SER on your hdd, and you can easily downgrade if the latest version is giving you problems.
