Question about ranking web2.0s/TLDs/videos and tiers

Hi,

I've very new in the SEO game and I've been doing for a while web2.0s and ranking them with kitchen sink (spam tier 1). However, recently I haven't had luck with it, so I was wondering, what is good to use now to rank web2.0s/YouTube videos? Does spam tier 1 still works or I'll have to do tiered building for them as well?

Also, I would like to try tiered building for some of my TLDs, is there any good tutorial explaining tiered building, which kind of links to use for which tier and other important things?
