More threats (Malware) detected by my Avast Anti Virus

I'm getting much more "threats detected" (mainly Malware Blocked) by my Avast Anti Virus using GSA recently. I'm wondering if there's a reason for this in the recent updates?

How would I be able to reduce this? Anyone has any ideas?

That has nothing to do with the update. Maybe some big virus attack going around on some platforms (exploit detected by some script kiddies). Though nothing to worry about as no script or anything is executed.
