Resolve names remotely (DNS) and Retry Download Failed

edited May 2014 in Feature Requests
Hi @Sven,

Could you add a button to choose "Resolve names remotely (DNS)" using proxies and a text box to "Retry Download Failed, 1 to x times".

Thanks

what would be the use of this? I mean the dns has to be resolved by SER without proxies for other tasks. I don't see a use in overloading the proxies with this task.

    Hi Sven,

Some DNS resolvers like Google, OpenDNS, etc. limit the rate control of outgoing requests to other nameservers and rate control of outgoing responses to clients.

"If queries from a specific source IP address exceed the maximum QPS, or exceed the average bandwidth or amplification limit consistently (the occasional large response will pass), we return (small) error responses or no response at all."

It`s a possible cause of download failed. So spreading the requests (via proxies) may resolve it.

For example: ProxyCap, SocksCap, etc have this function built-in to avoid this.

@Sven and how about the second sugestion to create a textbox ("Retry Download Failed, 1 to x times".)

That other option is handled internally ... no need for an option. Depending on the tasks it does, it tries to redownload.
