Seo questions about subdomains

Hello everyone here ! After so many burned domains I would like to ask a question to everyone here using subdomains :

1 ) Does subdomain ( subdomain.domain.com ) take some authority / penalties from main domain?

2)  Should we use it like a brand new domain or like a domain that have some age?

Those are my main questions , I see many subdomains ranking well these days and honestly it could be great if I can create 10 subdomains for each aged domain I ve and use it . Saving me lot of money and time . Any opinion / advice?
