@Ron - Have you written the instructions on how to do mass edits yet ??

I'm sure that I read somewhere that @Ron was going to do instructions on how to do mass edits of SER projects using Notepad++

Would it work to modify a ton of projects that each use 10 x Hotmail Accounts and convert them all to use a catchall on my own domains ?

You don't need to use notepad++ to do that.

Just select all the projects where you want to replace the emails, then right click and choose Modify Project -> Import -> Email Accounts -> From File. Then choose the file that contains your emails. SER will ask you if you want to get rid of the old emails.
  • @donaldbeck - Yes that would work if I were just replacing hotmails with hotmails but it won't let me change the other settings if I want to switch over to using catchall emails on my own domains rather that continuing to use free email accounts that can  all stop working overnight according to the whim of the provider.

Oh, I didn't know you need to change other settings to use a catchall.

@filescape - We should be releasing the Notepad++ Guide within the next 24 hours (it's done).

As far as I know, I remember Sven saying that you can't do that with email because of the encoding that is in the files (for the passwords). But it works for everything else. So maybe you can do a hybrid where you do the traditional import method, but then use Notepad++ to change the affected settings.

@ron - Ya, the passwords are the only thing encoded, the rest can just be edited and replaced in all appropriate files.

@filescape - So technically as the password is the same anyway you could just copy it from one entry and replace it in all files (might not work though as it depends on the encoding). Will try it later to see if it does.
  • @filescape - Just to add, no you can't just copy and paste the password as the encoding is based on the name of the account, which means that having a different acount name makes the encoded password different even though the password in plain text is exactly the same.
