Whats more important when buying a VPS? RAM or CPU cores?

gonna buy a vps soon because my spare computer is really shitty. 1 core, 2gb ram.

when running gsa i see it only uses like max 300 mb of ram. but cpu is at 90%

should i just get a vps with 4 cores and low ram (1gb?)

  • 1gb ram will probably just be barely enough for the operating system. If you get 4gb ram then the CPU should be your only limit. I'm always getting "out of memory" errors when SER uses a little more than 2gb ram. My server has 24gb ram, but SER is only a 32 bit application, so you should take this into consideration.

Are you gonna run Captcha Breaker too? (You should btw and throw EVE.cm into the mix too), then you will need more than 1GB. Don't cheap out on a VPS, it's false economy. Get a decent one and make it work for you. Look at SolidSEOVPS (on this forum). When I first bought SER I had it on a low spec VPS now I have 3 stupidly-powerful dedis. They are overkill but I use them for other tools and to ensure that I don't get out of memory errors and can abuse my proxies enough to run 500+ threads.

2-4 GB of ram minimum, and as much CPU as you can afford.
