Custom Proxy Labels/Tags to segregate proxy type usage (e.g., Search Engine vs. Posting & Verify
Hi Sven and the GSA community,
I would like to propose a highly useful feature for the GSA SER Proxy Manager: Custom Proxy Labels (or Tags).
The Current Limitation:Currently, while we can assign proxies globally or per project, it is difficult to strictly dictate which proxy is used for which specific task within the same project. For advanced users who manage multiple types of proxies, this often leads to inefficiency. For example, GSA might accidentally use an expensive rotating residential proxy for a simple posting task (wasting money), or worse, use a cheap datacenter proxy for search engine parsing (resulting in immediate IP bans or CAPTCHA blocks).
The Proposed Solution:Add a "Label" or "Tag" column in the Proxy Manager (e.g., SearchOnly, PostOnly, VerifyOnly, ScrapeOnly).
Then, in the Project Options > Proxy tab, allow users to filter or select proxies based on these labels, similar to how we currently select proxy countries.
Practical Use Case:Let’s say I have two types of proxies in my global list:
Label: ROTATING_RES (High-quality, auto-rotating residential/mobile proxies). I want to restrict these to be used ONLY for Search Engine parsing/scraping to avoid IP bans.
Label: STATIC_PRIVATE (Cheap, fast datacenter proxies). I want to restrict these to be used ONLY for actual link posting and email verification.
With custom labels, I could simply check "Use proxies with label: ROTATING_RES" under the Search Engine settings, and "Use proxies with label: STATIC_PRIVATE" under the Posting settings.
Benefits:- Cost Efficiency: Prevents wasting expensive proxy bandwidth on tasks that don't require it.
- Higher Success Rates: Ensures the right type of proxy is used for the right task (e.g., residential for scraping, static for posting).
- Better Organization: Makes managing large, mixed proxy lists much easier for advanced users.
I believe this would be a relatively straightforward addition to the UI but would bring massive value to power users.
Thanks for considering this, and keep up the great work on GSA SER!
