extracting links from OSE|ahrefs|majestic etc

So , i have a huge list of web2.0's(approx 5-6k) that were or are being spammed to death . So i extract all the links pointing to these sites using services like moz OSE , ahrefs , majestic etc and feed it into GSA , would that be worth the amount i pay to these services like 70-90 dollars per month ?

or i can get better sitelists with that amount of money ?

each of these web2.0 has a pa/da of 50+ so atleast 5 k links might be pointing to them.

  • I've had success using ahrefs in the way you mention.  Unless OSE has improved massively, I'd stay away.

  • If you just want the top 1000 links for each url you may have success scraping http://backlinkwatch.com/ as they use ahrefs data, though it is somewhat slow.
  • Either Ahrefs/Majestic would be the better options for this. OSE is more expensive and doesn't produce that many results. Another one that has a good free trial is webmeup. So you can try it and see if it is worth it for you. I found it not worth it.

I have used SB to pull backllinks which is far more efficient but I am sure will produce a lot less results.

You can get OSE data for free using the SB backlink checker addon.
  • Thanks , everyone . I figured ose was shit , ahrefs seems good .
@donaldbeck what is the limit of urls  that can be checked using ose on sb and limit of data sent back ? does it use moz api to fetch data ?

Yeah it uses moz api. It's 1000 links per url/domain.

@donaldbeck I've tried useing the SB backlink checker, but the Start button is greyed out - are you sure that you don't have to sign up for OSE to use the checker?

You have to sign up. It's free though. Look for the link at the bottom of the SB BL checker.
  • Not sure if I quite follow what is being discussed here.
Extracting links from ahref for example - say you get 10k links by checking the backlinks of popular sites.
Do you then just use those links as targets in GSA?
Would you first filter in any way?

What is the significance of checking the backlinks of web 2.0 sites?

Sorry if it is obvious, but i'm a bit confused and would like to make the most of ahrefs.
  • @flowerbaron No we find spammed web2.0 in our niche . we are assuming GSa ser has been used to spam it . Now if some other person managed to post via ser , we can too. Basically our competitor is building our list .

I have tried this with moz and most of the links are dead .
  • Don, how did you get the huge list of spammed Web 2.0?

OSE is great - just not to find spammed links - you'll see the higher quality ones. So when extracting crappy backlinks to be used in GSA, use Ahrefs.
