We need NEW option to skip sites with certain words in domain ONLY!!!

@sven - we need a new option to skip sites with certain words in the DOMAIN ONLY and not the URL.

The current option works like this: If i setup SER to filter out the keyword "viagra", it would filter out both viagra domains (buyviagraonlinetodaynow123.com) and good sites that contain viagra in the URL (example.com/buyviagraonline/).

With that option we are missing out on a number of potentially good targets.

But isn't that a bad neighbor if you add your content to a site also promoting viagra?
  • londonseolondonseo London, UK
No it isnt if the sites allow you to create a new page
  • @londonseo i never thought about that, but if GSA does work this way, you are exactly right. i use the domain filter all the time too

@kijix84 - after years of using SER, it just occurred to me that it does that.

@SvenIt's pretty much like Web 2.0, just because few people added things like viagra, payday loans, gambling and other stuff, doesn't mean whole domain is ruined now and worth nothing.

If it's contextual it creates a brand new page, if it's blog comments and guestbooks, you are surrounded by bad neighborhood because no matter how much you filter your list eventually other people will find out and spam it with all kind of shit.

@anonymous thats very true. @sven would this be a future update?
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
yes I guess I can add it.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    added for next update

    Thanks

@sven - when you try to add a single filter SER asks: "what type of filter" but if you try importing a list of filters it doesnt ask you the type so does it still work with the import?
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
yes, it works but the imported filters are then for the whole url unless you use prefixes there like "d:" or "p:".
  • @Sven I'm not sure if this is a good idea - considering all the recent Google updates, bad link neighborhood has to be avoided... these day at all costs.

I'd much rather miss out on a link opportunity from a dom which allows other (SER user) guys to post their viagra articles...

@jonseo - You have a choice whether to choose that option or not.

Blogspot, wordpress and many other authority sites have articles that mention Viagra on them so does this make them bad neighborhoods?

Do this search in Google UK -  site:wordpress.com viagra

It shows me 347k pages on wordpress.com that mention Viagra so i guess wordpress.com is a bad bad site in Google eyes.
    :))

@jonseo indeed, same I thought when adding this feature...but then again you don't have to use it ;)

  •

Where is this new feature that was added in recent update? I cant find it

     - new: ability to use filters only for domain/url/path

  • londonseolondonseo London, UK
@mike - it pops up when you add the filters manually

@sven - how do i use the prefixes that u mentioned?

yes, it works but the imported filters are then for the whole url unless you use prefixes there like "d:" or "p:".

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
just use "d:" at the front of the filterword for skipping it only on the domain or "p:" for the path only.
  • londonseolondonseo London, UK
    @sven - "d:" with quotes or d: without quotes?

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    without quotes.
