Projects Folder

@Sven is there any way to move or specify a different folder for SER projects rather than in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\GSA Search Engine Ranker\projects ?

C: is almost full and I'm having all sorts of issues getting the drives to back up before I repartition some space from D: to C:

use your new folder as commandline and SER will read/write there.
  • Cheers @Sven but what is the command line syntax to get SER to do this?

Checked at http://docu.gsa-online.de/search_engine_ranker and can't find any reference to it?

    Thanks

just start it with the folder in command line...it's not documented (just written in change log).
  • I must be doing something wrong.  I moved projects to D:\Live SER Projects\projects and tried

    search_engine_ranker.exe -D:\Live SER Projects\projects
    search_engine_ranker.exe D:\Live SER Projects\projects
    search_engine_ranker.exe -D:\Live SER Projects\

and all I got "blank" ser without any projects loaded

    search_engine_ranker.exe "D:\Live SER Projects\"
  • Cheers @Sven

Would it be better to just move the appdata\roaming\gsa search engine ranker\ directory?  I'm guessing you'll need to run the cmd line start up every time?

yes to both of your questions ;)
  • Cheers @Sven.

As usual you've excelled yourself ^:)^

    @Sven

And that no make problem after update ? (register or other).
  • @Kaine first time I did it there was a registration issue, so instead of moving the dir, I copied it to the new location and then it worked.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
you might have to register again but thats it.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de

Sorry not understand, want say move all file in "GSA Search Engine Ranker" (placed in roaming) to installation folder ?

I have tested that too ...

Command in cmd are that (for all in installation folder):

    F:\GSA Search Engine Ranker\Search_Engine_Ranker.exe "F:\GSA Search Engine Ranker\"
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
you should not move the files in the installation folder, just those in the application data folder where the project folder resists.

Ok is good, thank you very much for you patience :)

    @davbel

"I'm guessing you'll need to run the cmd line start up every time?"

You can make a .bat for that (adapt with your path):

    F:
    cd GSA Search Engine Ranker
    start Search_Engine_Ranker.exe "F:\"
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
you can even create a shortcut and add the command line on property screen.
  • KaineKaine thebestindexer.com
I have tested with no succes, surely error with "" syntax.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de

    1. install GSA Search Engine Ranker normally

    2. start it once / register / restore backups

    3. locate the projects folder with all the *.prj file in and move the whole "GSA Search Engine Ranker" folder (not the one it is installed to but the one in application data) to your new location (e.g. f:\TEST\).

    4. Now you start it with ... Search_Engine_Ranker.exe "F:\TEST\GSA Search Engine Ranker\"

Thank you it's clearer for my bad english :)
