stop pinging processes when pressing stop button

I just realized today that when I clicked on the projects to stop running (start/stop button)
there was a lot of messages about pinging to sites/failed to ping to sites
and this was going on for about 2 minutes before the thread went down to 0 (from 100 threads maximum setting)

isn't it possible to stop the pinging threads and kill all processing threads to make STOP button more responsive ?

    pinging is happening in another thread to not block link building. The ping-process is independent and doesn't know to what project a URL belongs.

    ok but then how do you exit immediatelly from the program ? shutdown ? in order to restart the windows machine lets say (which I need to do quite often) ?

    And also is there a command line like
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\GSA Search Engine Ranker\Search_Engine_Ranker.exe /shutdown"
    to do so ? can it be implemented ?

    If the program sees you are closing it, it should stop the ping thread almost immediately.
